COVID-19 vaccinations are in full swing in Maine, and the state set a new record for average daily vaccinations to start off the month of March.

Maine has also made a dedicated effort over the last few weeks to vaccinate school staff and childcare workers through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Locations such as Walmart, Sam’s Club, Hannaford and Walgreens across the state are required to set aside appointment slots for school and child care staff of any age through the end of March.

Maine came in at No. 16 among states whose residents have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Just over 20 percent of Maine’s population, about 270,000 Mainers, have received at least their first dose as of Monday March 8, with 11.35 percent having received their second dose.
