“Dinner with my family. A crowded restaurant. Finally holding all my friend’s 2019/2020 babies. A trip west to see my brother. Hugs. Smiling at a stranger and seeing them smile back. Dinner parties. Working in coffee shops. Diner breakfasts. The gym. The art museum. A fancy date. Dancing like a maniac at my friend’s wedding. Knowing my family, friends and community are all a little bit safer…

These are just a few of the reasons why, when it’s my turn, I’ll be getting vaccinated against COVID. There’s a lot of misinformation out there – but I’m putting my trust in science to prioritize the health of our community – in Maine and beyond. Vaccines defeated polio, eradicated smallpox, and got our country past countless diseases that would have otherwise lingered – and why I believe that vaccination is our best shot at moving forward and ending the pandemic. 

A post-COVID world will surely look different, but I fear what it would look like if we fail to do our part and don’t put our trust in science. What are you most looking forward to on the other side? For me, it’s the small, mundane things that I miss the most…”
